A Paseo of Choices
Paseo is defined a passageway or a walkway. In Cebu City however, it has become synonymous with a place to “hang out” or relax. In fact, Cebu City has two. “Paseo” which is located in Mabolo and “Paseo de Banawa” which is located in, no other than, Banawa.
The differences in the name and location are not the only thing that sets them apart. First off, the Paseo in Mabolo caters more to the yuppie and student crowd. On entering the place, a gymnasium is what immediately comes into mind. There is a stage located at one part and instead of bleachers, you get bars and other establishments. The presence of the bars is one reason why most people go to this place. The prices are competitive and not that expensive. Drinks are affordable. The place is also a good venue for concerts and other events.
If drinking is not your thing, you can also do a little shopping with stalls that sell relatively cheap clothes. The downside is that the place is rather hard to get to. Only one jeepney route is available and more often than not, one has no choice but to ride a taxi to get to and from the place.
Paseo de Banawa on the other hand, caters more to the family side. Instead of bars, fast food establishments and restaurants are the thing in Paseo de Banawa. There is also a supermarket where one can buy groceries and supplies. So while moms spend time choosing the ingredients for tomorrow’s dinner, pops can lounge at Starbucks sipping brewed coffee. The place is very accessible and family friendly.
So if you want to have a really good night out, then Paseo shold be your choice. But if you want a more relaxing atmosphere where you can talk and just relieve the stress then go to Paseo de Banawa. While these are just two of the many places to hang out in Cebu City, it shows that the city caters to whatever it is your heart desires.
Cebu City is truly the place to be.
